What is EMI (Equated Monthly Installment)?

An **Equated Monthly Installment (EMI)** is a fixed payment made by a borrower to a lender at a specified date each calendar month. EMIs are applied to both interest and principal each month so that over a specified number of years, the loan is paid off in full.

In the initial years of your loan, a larger portion of the EMI goes toward paying the interest. As you progress through the tenure, a higher percentage is allocated toward the principal repayment. This process is known as **Amortization**.

Why Making Prepayments is a Game Changer
